Waymart Fire Department Station 75 PO Box 186 254 Carbondale Road Waymart PA 18472 (570) 488-6131 email: waymartfire@gmail.com This is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization, which relies wholly on donations, fundraisers and grants to exist. Waymart is located in the mid western edge of Wayne County and borders Lackawanna County. The borough consists of a 2.8 square mile urban area with roughly 3,500 residents. Additionally the Company is responsible for all emergency services in Canaan Township, and a portion of South Canaan Township, which comprises an additional 4,000 residents in a 30 square mile area. Waymart Fire Company is on 1st alarm automatic-assignment to 7 municipalities including Canaan Township, South Canaan Township, Clinton Township, Prompton, Seelyville, Carbondale Township, Lake Ariel, and Waymart Borough. Additionally, our 2nd alarm coverage extends into 11 other municipalities spread throughout 3 different counties including: City of Carbondale, Clifford, Browndale, Greenfield Twp, Honesdale, Hawley, Hamlin, Mayfield, Fell Township, Forest City, and Uniondale. Our members log thousands of hours of service in fundraisers, training, and various calls for help. Our volunteers answer an average of 200+ calls per year. In the case of an emergency, please dial "911" The siren with in Waymart Borough will be activated for several reasons: Emergent Responses, Severe Weather, Tornado Warnings. The difference between severe weather and a dispatch alert will be in the way the siren goes off. 1. Severe weather alert will blare one time with a constant blast for 45 seconds 2. The dispatch alert for the Waymart Fire Fighters will blast 3 times in a row and will repeat if necessary. 3. The siren will blare every time the trucks have to respond emergent to a call. It is very important to let the residents of Waymart know. After the siren sounds, they should remain alert and to stay off the roads if possible. The fire trucks will be responding shortly after. In the event of special circumstances, the siren can be manually set off for however long the operator wishes to hold the button.
